Adventure to Cub Foods 1/4

fantas(t?)...

Sometimes a man is hungry. Sometimes a man realizes that he does not have any food to eat in his home. Sometimes a man panics about this, and sometimes a man’s woman takes him to the grocery store so she can buy him food while he takes pictures and gets yelled at by store employees.

I feel like maybe some of these pictures are not up to snuff…but, we’ve got a theme going, so let’s just run with it, huh?

Ninja vs. Cosplay Girl

ninja and girl

ddr cosplayer

The ninja and the cosplay girl are actually mortal enemies, and have been since pretty much the dawn of time. While in the past they dueled with throwing stars and…cat…swords…(respectively), they now simply play DDR. It is a less violent and more humiliating battle. Both ninja and cosplay girl kicked back and relaxed after a hard night of DDRing by watching me play 10 to 60 year old Japanese songs, which was so awesome you are basically kicking yourself right now for not going.

Fatty Bo Batty

fatty

fatty 2

I’ve been busy not taking pictures, being tired, etc. So here are a couple pictures of Fatty rollin around in some dirt, doin what he does best: being fat. I’d love to stay and chat, but those dishes aren’t going to do themselves, and very sadly, dinner is not going to magically appear in front of me, ready to enter my belly.

Fun With Lighters

If I had a tripod, and maybe a laser pointer or something, I could do even cooler stuff. But I don’t.

I’m playing at the Japan Festival today, so y’all should come and see me. It starts at 5:30, but I’m showing up at 6. I don’t actually, uh, know when I’ll be playing…but, sometime probably not too long after 6, so…yes. Here’s hoping I don’t mess up.

It’s Like Highlights Magazine

two things

puddle reflection

There are two interesting things to spot in the first picture. Find them…and win a prize!

Note: prize is intangible respect from me. Or maybe cake.

On the Way to School

snelling and ashland

steady

I should really be doing homework right now, instead of posting. Also instead of going to truthout, but I feel it is my duty as a human being to be well informed about stuff. But, hey, I declared my Japanese minor today. That’s something.

I Could Write You a Song…

valentine's cake

big ol heart

so pretty

Happy Valentine’s Day!

First off, I apologize for the flash, funny colors, and general poorness of these pictures. They are largely for respresentational rather than artistic purposes. This is the cake and the giant construction paper and macaroni valentine I made for Cassie for Valentine’s Day. Man, I am so cool. The cake is a white cake made with bits of Hershey’s Kisses inside (and on top, as you can see). Those little bastards took forever to unwrap.

In non-valentine’s day news, I just finished a stupid paper about a stupid book…so that’s good. Also, for those of you who care, I’ve accidentally gone over my picture limit for the month on my flickr account. Oops. Guess all you eager beavers will have to check back there around March 1st to see all those awesomely mediocre pictures that didn’t make the cut here at alluringtreefrog.

Brick, Buh Nuh Nuuhh Nuh, Wall

brick wall graffiti

alarm

I just got Castaways and Cutouts in the mail the other day. I must say, The Decemberists are of a mighty fine calibur. They don’t sing about girls and breaking up, you see. They sing about Victorian England and legionnaires and sailing, etc. They speak of joie de vivre and the Seine and they use the word “odalisque". I had to look that up, and I bet you do, too. Suffice it to say, I’m thoroughly impressed.

Broken Down

two cars

car writing

I pass these cars on the way to school, whenever it is that I actually walk. They’re near that bike/exercise store and the dance studios. The writing on the car doesn’t make any sense to me, not even grammatically, really. Anyone have any ideas?

Diagonal Lines

stove bottles

pabst caps

The fun thing about PBR is the bottle caps. They’re like cards! One day I will assemble a full deck of PabstCaps and play poker with them. It will be grand.

In other miscellaneous news: the next James Bond movie (probably starring Clive Owen) is going to be Casino Royale, the first James Bond book and incidentally the one (and only) that I’ve just read. Wow! Also Michael is alive and well in some apartment near the Metrodome, but he has no bed. Que sera sera.

O’Gara’s

ogaras

Sigh. It’s just sad that the only picture I’ve taken in the last week at least has been this ONE of this stupid bar and the end of the street. I think I’d be more inclined to go out on picture taking excursions if I had a tripod, since the night time is the majority of the time around here, and there’s not usually a nice flat steady surface exactly where I want to take the picture from. Oh yeah, also it’s negative a billion again.

Chicago

aquarium woman

aquarium silhouette

chicago skyline

chicago lawn

These are from when John and Cassie and I went to Chicago two summers ago to visit Grace (who is in London now). Among other lovely locales we visited the aquarium, for which there was a long-ass line extending possibly to the John Hancock building (or if that’s not far enough…um…Iowa). Grace, being the poor example of a moral human being that she is, cut in front of all of those hot and sweating suckers and got us tickets to go in and see the fishies. Good work, Grace.

Also, I think that maybe the last picture here is the first picture I ever posted on fotolog.

(editor’s note: this is incorrect, it is actually the fourth picture I ever posted on fotolog. oops.)

Kitties!

gen and yoshi

yoshi portrait

yoshi closeup

I wrote a note to my landlord today expounding on the benefits of and reason’s for us having a cat. Hopefully he will find it in his kind heart to let Genencor here move up to the frigid north away from his friends with us, though it sounds cruel when you say it like that. But we want kitties, dammit.
