Auriga! Auriga! Andale!

valentine's cassie

valentine's colin

Last Saturday, a week ago, Cassie and I went to Auriga for a belated Valentine’s Day dinner. Suits were worn and unparalleled parallel parking was achieved. It was voted best restaurant in 2005 by the City Pages, so, there. Cassie had three whole scallops with a pile of tiny asparagus and one single ravioli with lobster or something I dunno inside. I had organic (of course) chicken with, um, I forget. Some weird apple cider mashed potatoes thing and, and, it was good too. But I dunno, as far as restaurants with big rectangular white plates and small attractive portions go, I may have had better. Heartland is really pretty good, down on St. Clair and that other street, near the comic book shoppe. Alas, I am not fancy enough to eat at these kinds of places all the time. The career: Restaurant Critic, is looking pretty good about now.

OH! And I wrote a song about having a suit!

(I write what I know)

SUIT!

The interview went pretty well, thanks it no small part to my suit, I’m sure. Right after the interview I was euphoric and kicking the walls of the elevator with joy. But the further away in time from the interview the more I realize that I did not ace it, I just didn’t fuck it up, which is far from a guaranteed acceptance. Regardless, the worst is definitely over and now I must wait six weeks to plan the next year of my life. In the meantime I’ve got too much schoolwork to do and a messy apartment that might never get clean. It can only get better.

Feel the Burn

Tomorrow I go to Kinko’s to get a passport photo (for the interview) and to Target to get a tie and belt (for the interview). I read somewhere that the acceptance rate at this point in the application process is 58%, which sounds pretty good to me. Can’t wait till the damn thing is over with. I think the stress is bringing my heartburn back.

To Cassie, who had a bad time at the MOA today and is very helpful and so good, (sometimes irritatingly so), when it comes to answering potential JET interview questions. Now hopefully she’ll help me coordinate my outfit more. I still need a tie, and I’m not convinced about the shoes I bought. Neither am I entirely convinced that “anything goes with a gray suit", even though that’s what the internet says and the internet is never ever wrong. My dark brown (almost purple in a way) shirt seems rad and almost simulaneously un-rad everytime I look in the mirror. Gar-rar-rar. And I’ve been thinking, if I tremble with nervousness just mumbling possible answers to possible questions by myself, how am I going to be during the actual tribunal, I mean interview? Not good, I fear.

Ben!

b b b ben

I am excited by two things: I have just found several GOOD pictures that I took this summer in Hampton. Awesome! This is probably the best one. Also, as we were walking back from O’Gara’s, Grace slipped on the sidewalk and fell in the snow, and it was about the funniest thing I’ve seen in my entire life. Side note –> JET Interview is next Wednesday. Kowai.
