There Were Many Dead Things On The Beach In Mexico

cassie and a dead fish

Not Pictured: a big freaking eel, coconuts, about 500 jellyfish. Grace supposedly got stung by one on, like, the second day we were there. As a result, she only swam in the ocean once. Once! It makes me sad just to think of the wasted experience, but hey, if Grace wants to sit in the pool and read The Da Vinci Code instead of go to the ocean, that’s fine. It was a nice pool.

Mexico, I Hardly Knew Ye
or
Two Garretts

two garretts

I have returned from a week long vacation in Mexico, and it was fun. I have pictures, but I haven’t uploaded them yet. This picture of Garrett Sr. and Garrett Jr. (not their first names) is from my and Cassie’s swinging graduation party last weekend or two. The most biggest news probably is that I know where I’m going to be in Japan. The island: Kyushu. The prefecture: Saga. The town: Shiroishi. Good god damn luck finding it. Here, this might help a little bit. It is a “largely rural” prefecture, and Kyushu’s smallest. The figures that Wikipedia gives for population in Shiroishi and other cities are a bit low, I think, having read other more current things. But I think it’s safe to say my town has about 30,000 people in it. I think it’s also safe to say I don’t think I could have gotten a smaller, more rural placement. Thank you Japan, it’s not like I requested to be in Kyoto or anything.

Whaa?

waa

A good start to Senior Week! Although, if truth must be told, Senior Week is over. So is graduation. I’m more done with school than I could ever say. We had a lovely party at my aunt Sue’s swanky pad, and all in all I think everything went OK. I have a diploma now, although it doesn’t say my major, which is sort of disappointing. I have an undue amount of pride about being a Linguistics major sometimes, but never at all about just having a BA. Anyway, we’re going to Mexico in, like, a DAY. I’m hoping some tragedy doesn’t occur, but after what happened last time we tried to go to Mexico it’s impossible for me to imagine a tragedy-less trip. Ah well. I’ll keep you posted, internet.

Sepia = Classy

sepia cassie

Apologies for lack of posting and, now, lack of new pictures. This is from the old sepia batch around January. But, I’ve just plum(b?) run out. I haven’t been taking any. I’ve been quite busy finishing school, which I have done! Finished! The end! Wow! I had planned on taking a picture story of my many and varied emotions, but the emotion of “meh” has prevented me from doing it thus far. I am in the midst of Senior Week and should very much be taking very many pictures, if not so as to have visual records of these people who I may never see again, then because there are many classy photo ops available and I need pictures. The boat-upon-which-we-get-drunk ride (or “booze cruise” as the more linguistically gifted have termed it) is tonight, so, here’s to remembering to bring the camera and also not dropping it over the edge.
