Sanjūsangen-dō

Outside Sanjūsangen-dō. It has 1000 statues of Kannon, or something, I think. Also, it’s possibly one of the longest, biggest, or some other superlative structure made out of wood. One day I will unlazy myself and upload more pictures from my camera to the computer.

Nijō Castle

The front gate.

I have a fantasy that I will collect UNESCO World Heritage site visitations like Pokemon.

The halls inside the castle walls were somewhat plain on their outsides, but inside them were lovely paper door paintings and the nightingale floor that squeaks when you walk on it so ninjas can’t sneak in!

Taking pictures of a Japanese garden.

Wall o’ rocks.

Musical instrument town

Professor Dad.

Guitars, guitars, guitars.

So this is an interesting article. It’s a little bit inspiring to me to see that someone whose musical style is sort of like mine can make it a little bit in the world. This guy is honestly about as famous as I’d like to be. The only problems are: I’m not as good at playing guitar and singing as he is and this man already exists, so I can’t be him. See what I mean? This happens to me a lot. I see a person and think, “I’d like to do that/be like that” but realize that someone else already has a monopoly on it and it’s their idea, not mine, sort of thing. Sigh. I haven’t been feeling very creative lately, despite having my wonderful guitar back.

Dear God

Prayers left by people speaking all kinds of languages (although mainly Japanese and English) at Meiji Jingu in Tokyo.

With the Sunday gang in Harajuku my ass

Assorted weddings at the Meiji Shrine near Harajuku, in Tokyo. Side note: Harajuku was very disappointing. We were promised crazy kids dressed like Gothic robots or whatever, but there were just a couple crazy kids and like, I dunno, a million and a half foreigners looking for crazy kids. It was sad and embarrassing.

Ippei Gyoubu

Check out this ridiculously awesome Dr. Pepper can I got from the vending machine at our hotel in Tokyo. I did some research and the illustrator is Ippei Gyoubu. Here’s an excellent gallery of his work.

Lumix tells a story about going to Tokyo

Mt. Fuji from the Shinkansen, between Nagoya and Shin-Yokohama stations.

Wandering the streets between Shinjuku and Shibuya at night.

Jerassic Park skeezy game arcade: it’s the 80s like I never knew it.

WATCH OUT FOR ELECTRO CARS.

Shibuya Crossing, a kind of pilgrimage completed.

I don’t know!

We Be Jammin

At the behest of my mother, here is a photo from a jam session earlier today at Yasuko’s house.
